Dettol Antiseptic Liquid is a concentrated, multi-purpose antiseptic solution designed to kill germs on the skin and surfaces to protect against infection and illness. Its active ingredient is Chloroxylenol (4.8% w/v), which works by disrupting the cell walls of bacteria and fungi.
 
Common Uses & Dilution Ratios
This product must be diluted with water before use; when mixed, it typically forms a characteristic milky white emulsion. 
First Aid: For cleaning minor cuts, scratches, and insect bites, dilute 1 capful (13.5ml) in 270ml of water.
Personal Hygiene: To disinfect bathing water, use 1 capful in 2.7 litres of water. It can also be used for treating dandruff (1 tablespoon in 1 pint of water).
Household Cleaning: For floors and hard surfaces, mix 1 capful in 270ml of water. For laundry sanitization, dilute 1 capful in 540ml of water. 
 
Safety & Precautions
External Use Only: Never swallow Dettol. If ingested, wash your mouth and drink plenty of water or milk, then seek immediate medical advice.
Contraindications: Avoid use on individuals with eczema or similar dry skin conditions unless under medical supervision. It is not recommended for children under 1 year of age.
Animal Safety: Toxic to cats and other small pets, as they cannot properly metabolize phenolic compounds.
Irritation: Using it undiluted on skin can cause severe chemical burns. If it enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cold water and consult a doctor.
